PMKVY

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme and the initiative of Modi Government under a new ministry i.e. MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. During UPA government the same scheme was launched as STAR (Standard Training and Accreditation Reward), but later named as PMKVY.

Implementation of PMKVY was also done through NSDC. Earlier the fees that was submitted by the students (which was of 10,000 INR) was returned as a reward by the government to the student after he/she has successfully completed the training with a certificate. This was during the period of PMKVY. But later, after the introduction of PMKVY2 this reward money was reduced from 10,000 INR per candidate to 7000 INR per candidate. 38 INR per hour are given to the technical trainer, and 20 INR per hour are given to the non-technical trainer during this Training session. Afterwards a minor change was done in the method of the money given to the Trainers; it was given in three installments- firstly 30% was given, then 50% of the amount, and at last the remaining 20%.

ICSS participated only in STAR and PMKVY1. The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
